Bigfoot is looking for an energetic and driven Senior Modeling Engineer to join our model-based design (MBD) team. In this position you will be developing algorithms and systems that either directly integrate into our devices or support overall system design activities. You will be a member of a team developing commercial Class 3 medical devices.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • You will design, implement and test algorithms and solutions through modeling and simulation.
    • You will analyze high-level requirements and needs.
    • You will create tests / simulations to ensure designs meet requirements.
    • You will meet quality standards and requirements for model-based design.
    • You will work cross-functionally with other teams. In particular you will work with software / firmware developers and architects to integrate model-generated code into the system.
    • You will plan, track and coordinate tasks within team planning meetings, following Agile / Lean rituals.

    Must haves we're looking for:

    • 4+ years of model-based design experience (demonstrated ability to perform computational analysis, modeling, and simulation tasks).
    • Experience using MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow
    • Experience with embedded systems (hardware and firmware)
    • Systems Engineering Experience

    We'd prefer if you also have:

    • Knowledge of control systems and / or signal processing
    • Familiarity with code generation workflows
    • Familiarity with system architecting
    • Familiar with IEC 60601 and IEC 62304 series standards
    • Familiar with the FDA Quality System Regulation
    • Knowledge of safety-driven design methodologies
    • Familiar with physical system modeling
    • Familiar with formal verification and validation workflows
    • Strong technical / leadership skills: decisive, determined, strategic and able to lead, motivate, and inspire others.
    • Experienced communicator / presenter of technical information with a quality focus to internal as well as external partners.
    • Well organized and possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple areas of responsibility concurrently.  
    • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
    • Team player / builder; possess a “can-do” attitude.
    • Results and goal oriented; a true professional who can deliver on budget and on time. Ability and desire to be proactive not just reactive; a questioning mindset.

    Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree (BS) in an engineering discipline or computer science.
    • Master's degree (MS) is desirable
