The Senior Software Engineer is part of the Software Applications Development Team and is responsible for analyzing component requirements, designing software solutions, and implementing Bigfoot software systems on mobile and cloud platforms. Bigfoot Software Engineers are also responsible for developing and maintaining automated software component tests and test frameworks to meet QMS requirements for Bigfoot software components. The right person for this role will be a detail-oriented, results-oriented self starter with the flexibility to adapt to change in a fast-paced startup environment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Analysis and Design Software Systems
    • Analyze product requirements
    • Collaborate with product management
    • Provide engineering input on product requirements
    • Design and document software systems to meet product requirements
    • Define component requirements to meet system designs
    • Collaborate with other component teams on system solutions

    • Software Development
    • Implement component software requirements
    • Document detailed designs for component requirements
    • Perform code and documentation reviews to engineering and QMS standards
    • Write automated tests for component requirements
    • Meet QMS standards and requirements for developed software

    • Mentoring
    • Provide engineering support for more junior engineers
    • Refine and improve Bigfoot engineering practices and culture
    • Perform scrum-master role as required

    • Design and implement testing frameworks to:
    • Verify component requirements
    • Support test engineering team needs for integration testing
    • Build out and maintain testing infrastructure as needed

    • DevOps
    • Research and design CI and CD solutions
    • Implement and maintain CI and CD infrastructure as needed

    Must haves we’re looking for:

    • 5+ years recent hands-on software development experience in a lean/agile environment
    • Expertise in Java and Javascript
    • Experience building Web 2.0 Applications
    • Experience building iOS and/or Android Mobile Applications
    • Experience building RESTful web services using the Spring framework
    • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
    • Experience with test frameworks
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Self-motivated, highly organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to flex across a variety of roles in an innovative, fast-paced, start-up environment

    We’d prefer if you also have:

    • Experience with React and React Native
    • Experience with iOS development / Swift
    • Experience with Google Protobufs
    • Experience with event streaming architectures such as Kafka or Kinesis
    • Strong technical and leadership skills: decisive, determined, strategic, and able to lead, motivate, and inspire others

    Educational Requirements:

    • BS Software Engineering or higher
